Sandra J. Howlett

DC, CST-D,
Certified Veterinary Chiropractor

Dr. Howlett has 38 years of clinical experience as a human and veterinary chiropractor and an animal craniosacral practitioner and instructor.

Sandi graduated from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1987, at the age of 23, and quickly pursued more education. Upon discovering Dr. John Upledger, DO, OMM, she adopted his osteopathic approach for facilitating self-correction, becoming Diplomate Certified with the Upledger Institute in 2008 and an instructor and examiner with the organization for some 10 years. During this period, she did further training with the International Alliance of Healthcare Educators – an umbrella organization regrouping, at the time, the Upledger Institute, the Barral Institute and the Chikly Institute – in human neural manipulation, visceral manipulation, lymphatic drainage, and manual brain/glial matrix work.

During this same period, she completed a post-doctoral program in animal chiropractic – offered only to veterinarians and chiropractors – through the Veterinary Chiropractic Learning Centre. And also completed two certification programs: the Equine Facilitated Learning and Coaching (EFLC) Facilitator Certification Program with The Academy for Coaching with Horses and the Equine Assisted Learning Certification with Equine Connection, The Academy of Equine Assisted Learning.

At some point, Sandi realized that traditional therapeutic approaches to animal care were not addressing equine “head cases” (behavioral cases), so she developed a curriculum in Equine CranioSacral Therapy which focuses on integrating the craniosacral system, the fascial system, and the nervous system, thereby facilitating self-healing. Her program was originally offered through Integrative Intentions, then Upledger, and today she teaches it through Equinology.

Sandi is a member of Veterinary Compendium’s Webinar Content Advisors group since March 2024.
