Maren Diehl

Practitioner, teacher, author

Maren worked for 30 years as a riding instructor and trainer in Germany.

Some 10 years ago, she started questioning most of the beliefs and methods commonly accepted by equestrians. She began studying the biotensegrity model and developed a collaborative relationship with the “father of human biotensegrity” Stephen M. Levin, PhD and other members of the Biotensegrity Archive group. This marked the beginning of an important paradigm shift in her understanding, which flowed over to her teaching and horse training.

She has collaborated with the Biotensegrity Archive since 2016. Dr. Levin called Maren a true scientist because of her kitchen lab experiments with tensegrity models and her habit of always checking the principles of biotensegrity and the physics of ground reaction forces in her everyday experiences, in her work with horses, and in martial arts. In 2018 and 2019, she presented on the topic of biotensegrity and horses at the International Biotensegrity Interest Group gatherings in Belgium. In 2021, she was keynote speaker at the Biotensegrity Archive’s online event “Biotensegrity and Equine Health Colloquy”.

Maren has written multiple articles and blogposts about the ongoing paradigm shift of biotensegrity. The English translation of her second book, Beyond Biomechanics – Biotensegrity, has been available since 2019, with a foreword by Dr. Levin and a recommendation from the Biotensegrity Archive. Since 2020, Maren has offered 3-month online courses on biotensegrity, ground reaction forces, functional posture, and horse training including managing ECVM-diagnosed horses.

Maren’s primary interest these days is to encourage synergy by discussing these new paradigm(s), as well as old beliefs and functional anatomy.
