Dr. Haussler’s webinar about pain the horse was not only educational but sobering – I learned so much about aspects of pain I had never actively considered. Going back to basics about the mechanisms of pain was important as they have direct implications in our management of pain. It was an excellent reminder that not all pain is the same and that this will impact how we help the horse. The review of behavioral indicators of pain was excellent, and foundational knowledge for anyone involved in the welfare of horses.
