Dr. Haussler is a leading researcher with an extensive background in the objective assessment of musculoskeletal pain, biomechanics and pathology of the equine axial skeleton. Dr. Haussler graduated from The Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. To further his training in the conservative management of spinal-related disorders, he earned a Doctor of Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic. He then completed a PhD in Comparative Pathology with a focus on spinal pathology and pelvic biomechanics in Thoroughbred racehorses at the University of California, Davis. Post-doctorate training involved the evaluation of in-vivo spinal kinematics in horses at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. While at Cornell, he created and directed an Integrative Medicine Service which provided chiropractic, acupuncture and physical therapy services to both small and large animals.
Dr. Haussler has been a Charter Diplomate* of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation since its inception. He is currently an Associate Professor at Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee and a course instructor for the Equine Rehabilitation Certificate Program (CERP) at the University of Tennessee. He is an invited instructor around the world and speaks regularly at national and international conferences.
In 2019, Dr. Haussler created Veterinary Compendium (VetCompendium.org), an online international educational program and platform, which focuses on elevating the standards of care for animals through a collective exploration of innovative, interdisciplinary approaches. He encourages all members of the animal’s care team – from novice to expert, to participate.
