Dr. Questen, also known as “DrQ”, is a holistic veterinarian and life coach for people with pets. She owns a veterinary clinic in Colorado (USA).
Jena obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2001 and certified in Veterinary Acupuncture in 2002, both at Colorado State University. In 2014, she was the 21st person in the world to become a Certified Aquatic Veterinarian (CertAqV) through the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association – association she went on to preside in 2020. In 2021, she certified as a Professional Animal Trainer through the Dolphin Research Center in Florida.
Jena is also the founder and CEO of ResqRanch, a premiere non-profit positive reinforcement animal sanctuary and education center. She firmly believes that the only way to save more animals is to make sure they stay in good homes, which is what the Ranch is dedicated to through its positive reinforcement animal education and training sessions. Jena strives to promote the science of what she considers the best animal training method known to professional animal trainers, but which is little used in the equine industry.
Jena’s diverse experience includes horse racing, dog training, and emergency medicine for fish. And she has a keen interest in plant-based nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices for both humans and animals.
In 2022, Jena was named Small Business Person of the Year by the Colorado division of the U.S. Small Business Administration. She is an invited speaker on such topics as positive reinforcement animal training, plant-based diets for pets, business and marketing, children and animals, and how great relationships with animals literally saves people’s lives through their positive effect on mental health.
